This function requires an Advance License or higher. See also Licenses and functions.
For live comments, the ducking function allows you to reduce the sound track volume by a defined level via a keystroke and resume the normal volume level again via a second keystroke.
And this is how it is done:
Click Options in the function bar below the main menu and select Project Options - Audio on the left.
Since the Ducking function initiates an automatic change of the master control the settings can be found under Master level. The following options are available:
If asynchronous audio is to be controlled as well using the Ducking function check box Master fader also controls asynchronous audio. See also Asynchronous audio playback.
If the Live player audio is to be controlled as well using the Ducking function check box Master fader also controls live players. See also Live Player for sound and Live Player for videos.
If Ducking is to be controlled via Wings Remote you need to check box Enable ducking by Wings Remote so that the corresponding button is displayed on the Wings Remote interface. See also Remote control using Wings Remote and smart phones.
In order to control the Ducking function via the B key check box Enable Ducking by "B" key.
Note: If you use an AV Stumpfl FB-1 remote control unit (this may require a firmware update) you need to enable Case sensitivity as the letters B and b need to be evaluated for Activation and Deactivation. In such a case b must be pressed for ducking and B for the normal level on the standard keyboard.
Below this at Level reduction by enter the dB value by which the level is to be reduced. For Fade out / Fade in enter the required duration of the control process in seconds.
Close the dialog by clicking OK.
When you start playback and start ducking, e.g. by pressing the B key or via Wings Remote the master volume is reduced by the specified amount, which is also indicated by the green double arrow below the master fader. To resume the previously set level press the Ducking button or the B key again.
Basically, ducking by control via the B key works also in an EXE presentation. See also Creating EXE presentations.
Control via Wings Remote is particularly elegant as it also allows display of preview images and keywords. See also Remote control using Wings Remote and smart phones.
Our remote control unit AV Stumpfl FB-1 allows Ducking control via the black key. When ducking is active, the red LED on the rear side of the receiver lights up. When the normal level is resumed the red LED goes out and the green LED flashes briefly. To function properly, option Case sensitivity must be enabled. Additionally, older models may require a firmware update.
Ducking can also be controlled via triggers that can be executed and remote-controlled in various ways. See Trigger actions and Executing triggers.
