Picture, sound and video files can easily be selected and watched or listened to in the Media Pool.
In the Media Pool,
mark the corresponding media file. Immediately afterwards, the picture,
the sound wave display or some pictures of the video are displayed
in the Preview Window which can be accessed by clicking tab
Preview in the bottom right
corner of the program window. Using the Expand/compress function,
pictures can be viewed at a large size in the timeline window. See
Sorting on
the lightbox.
Crosses on top of the icon at the beginning of a file line on the left
have the following meaning:
White
crosses ...signalize that no current display
data for audio and video files are available for display in the program
window. ....This is how you create the missing
display data.
A blue cross will also appear for picture files if the properties
of the current file differ from the properties of the file originally
used for the project, e.g. when a picture was edited externally
after being added. Information on how to update the status of externally
edited pictures can be found out under External
editing of media files and Updating
media file properties.
Gray
crosses ...appear only for video files
for which no display data are available and for which automatic creation
of display data is disabled.
Yellow
crosses ...mean that the corresponding
media files are missing. In this case you should have the program
search for it. See Searching
for missing files.
For pictures you
can also activate Lightbox View. Just click on the button
Activate lightbox view. See
also Sorting
on the lightbox.
Audio files can be played back by clicking the Play button in the Media Pool or the wave display in the Preview Window. Playback can be stopped via the Stop button in the timeline or by clicking in the Preview Window.
When clicking the wave display, playback starts at exactly the position in time where you clicked. Click again to stop playback. By double-clicking a new position in the wave display, playback can be continued at that location even while playing back the file. Just try it out.
Marking a different audio file in the Media Pool while playing back, causes playback to change over immediately to the other audio file.
