Design templates now allow fast modification of all pages and their control elements. Note: When older projects (earlier than May 2017) are loaded the pages are analyzed automatically and a template is created. This may take a moment.
Basically the interface design is based on templates for the corresponding elements. Newly created projects are based on the default design.
When a project is opened you will find a pages overview on the left under PAGES. At the bottom of this list you will find TEMPLATES. Click on TEMPLATES and the pages overview disappears and the templates are listed in accordance with the different types. Moreover, you will also find information on the number of times the template has already been used. Click on PAGES to return to the pages overview.
There are also shortcuts for changing over between pages and templates:
Ctrl + 1 ...shows the pages overview.
Ctrl + 3 ...shows the templates overview.
Ctrl + 1 + 3 ...shows both the pages and the templates overview with both of them sharing the space. By changing back to one of the two views this mode is terminated again.
Ctrl + Shift + Number ...opens the corresponding page in the Editor directly. This is useful feature when the pages overview is hidden and the templates overview open as it avoids changing over and scrolling.
This topic provides information on the following:
The templates overview can be filtered according to the template type by clicking the button Filter Templates by Type and selecting/deselecting the corresponding template type. Moreover, the template names can be hidden by clicking button Hide Template Names. This saves space.
Usage of templates is quite simple:
When you drag an element from the templates overview and drop it on some empty space on the current page in the Editor a new element with the corresponding design is created.
When you drag a templates element and drop it on an existing element of the same type in the Editor the design of that element is changed in accordance with the template.
When you drag a pages background from the templates overview and drop it in the Editor the background is changed accordingly.
Basically, we distinguish between design and template. A template refers to one particular element type. A design, on the other hand, is a collection of default templates of all element types. The default design is used for new projects and all the elements added on a page are based on the default templates contained. After deleting a template the elements based on that template are assigned the design of the default template. That’s why default templates cannot be deleted.
And this is how you can define Default templates:
Start by designing an element according to your requirements. Click Create Template before you start editing it to create a new template.
When you are done editing, right-click the template created and select Set as default template following which the design of this element type is turned into the default template.
The new default template is only relevant for the current project. I.e. all newly added elements of this type are created in accordance with the new default template.
If you want all the elements in this project to be available for new projects you need to ...
...Create a default design:
Load a project that contains all the required default templates.
Name it Default Project Design.wtpx and save it to the following folder: C:\ProgramData\AV Stumpfl\Wings Touch\ProjectTemplates
Any newly created projects are then based on the design you’ve just saved.
As an alternative you can also save individual designs as templates and create a design collection. Proceed as described above but name it differently. After restarting Wings Touch the saved designs will be available as templates. Click in the top right-hand corner, select New and choose the required template in the list on the right.
Drag the template element you want to edit and drop it onto a page. Click Control Tools in the main menu.
Select Edit Template to edit this template which will also affect all other elements used in this template. If you prefer to create a new template select Create Template.
Now make the desired changes which, if applicable, also affect those elements linked up with this template.
If you want to edit an existing template it may be useful to take a look where it has already been used. To do so click the template element and select Find next template usage following which the page where the template is already in use will be displayed. Repeat this process until you have found all the pages containing those elements.
In order to delete an element from the templates overview right-click the required template element and select Remove template. Please note that all elements in the project using this template will be reset to the default design.
