Using Myo armband for gesture control

The Myo Armband by Thalmic allows you to perform functions in Avio System using arm and hand gestures. The armband contains motion and muscle sensors and is connected via Bluetooth to the computer running Avio Service. A USB Bluetooth adapter is included in the delivery.

Prior to the first time use of the Myo armband you need to make a few preparations.

    1. Install Myo Connect software, which can be found on the Thalmic Labs web page. See www.thalmic.com

    2. After successful installation of Myo Connect click the Avio Service icon and select Functional Groups. In the dialog popping up enable this functional group by clicking Myo Armband following which it is then listed in yellow at the top. Finish by clicking Apply Changes.

    3. After opening Avio Manager port Myo is shown under Avio Service of your computer.

    Available channels

At port Myo two equal ports for the left and the right arm are available. Selection is via the Sync gesture (see Myo Connect configuration).

Each of the two Myo ports has the following functions available:

Gestures without hold at the end are reset to 0 after some time.

Gestures with hold are only reset if some other gesture or a rest gesture is detected.

Gestures can also be combined with Double Tab unlock. In this case the gestures only become active if a Double Tab Gesture is recognized within 3 seconds before the gesture. This reduces errors considerably.

All other sensors, e.g. acceleration sensor or orientation are also listed.
