Most Nvidia Quadro series graphics cards (e.g. M4000) feature hardware-based output synchronization. For such graphics cards you should consider the following:
When tearing occurs you may have connected various types of displays with different EDIDs. A necessary precondition for perfect synchronization, however, is identical timing for all outputs. Solution: Load uniform EDIDs, i.e. standard solutions which can be used for nearly all monitors/projectors for all outputs. Central administration of EDIDs on all master and client PCs is possible via the RX Manager. See Wings RX Manager.
If you want to adjust the graphics card’s Display Port Outputs for DVI or HDMI and use all four outputs simultaneously, one of the adapters must be active. We’ve had very positive experience with active adapters by Club 3D. Club 3D Adapter CAC-1070 enables connection to HDMI 2.0, power supply is via the Display Port. Club 3D Adapter CAC-1051 enables connection to DVI Dual Link (max. resolution 2560 x 1600 pixels); power supply requires a USB-port.
Note: Wings Vioso RX allows loading of EDIDs via RX Manager. This can be done centrally for all master and client PCs. See Wings RX Manager.
EDIDs are exported and saved via the Nvidia Control Panel. Extensive information can be found in the Nvidia Help files. Below, however, you will find a quick guide:
Right-click some free desktop area and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
Click the plus sign next to Workstation and select View system topology, which will then be displayed on the right.
Below your graphics card you will find a list of connectors and, further below, the connected devices. Below the first device at EDID status click Monitor following which the Manage EDID page appears.
Select tab Export and highlight the device whose EDID you want to save. Click Export EDID, enter an EDID file name and save the EDID file to the desired folder.
Now click on tab Load. Click Browse. Select the file with the required EDID and click Open.
Place a checkmark for all devices the EDID is to be used for and click Load EDID, following which a message saying that loading was successful will appear. Finish by clicking OK.
EDID Status will now show File. Please note that the graphics card of connected monitors or projectors now no longer demands the EDIDs. Therefore, displays can be plugged in and off even during operation. In such a case the system always regards all displays as being connected. If only one monitor is connected, however, the main display is no longer visible on this monitor and the system may become inoperable. By plugging the cable to the various outputs you will have to find out where the main display is. Deletion of the EDID on the graphics card is also done on on the Manage EDID page on tab Unload.
