Configuration of Audio Input

This function is only available with the Pro License and higher. See Licenses and functions.

This variant for reading timecode cannot be recommended as it might cause problems.

Your sound card audio input can be used for reading SMPTE timecode. In addition to this, it is possible to use input levels for controlling effect parameters, see External control of effect parameters, or to record the level in data objects and use it for further control purposes.

This is how you set up a device port for audio inputs:

    1. In the Media Pool click on category Devices.

    2. Right-click some free space in the Media Pool on the right and select Add port PC Hardware Audio Input.

    3. If you want to use the input as SMPTE timecode reader make the following settings in the dialog box:

    4. Stereo channel  ...enter the channel from which timecode is to be read.

    5. Framerate  ...enter the frame rate of the timecode to be read.

    6. SMPTE offset  ...specify a period of time which is to be added to the incoming timecode. Also negative times can be entered as offset. The resulting timecode value, however, must never fall below zero, as Wings Vioso RX automatically sets negative values to zero.

    7. SMPTE-Timecode  ...here you can enter a period of time for Wings Vioso RX to continue playback after timecode is no longer available. It does not make sense to enter values below 100 ms. The default setting is 1000 ms.

    8. After SMPTE timeout  ...here you can define the activity to be performed after timeout:

        • Reset timecode ...causes the system to be without valid time; playback stops and the Locator jumps to the last starting position.

        • Keep last timecode value  ...the system retains the timecode value received last plus timeout and stops likewise.

        • Continue timecode  ...if timecode is no longer available playback is continued via the PC clock.

    1. Click on OK to close the dialog.
