Wake on LAN can be used to enable computer via a network. This function can also be controlled via Avio. In order to activate a disabled PC via Wake on LAN the PC to be activated must fulfill the following preconditions:
Different BIOS manufacturers offer various settings for enabling Wake on LAN. Wake-On-Lan must in any case be enabled in BIOS, sometimes Magic Packet is also required. Phoenix BIOS, for example, makes the setting via Advanced - Wake On LAN - enabled. Some older computers may require BIOS upgrade. Newer mother boards may not allow enabling Wake on LAN as it may already have this capability by default.
The network adapter settings must allow activation of the PC via Wake on LAN. To activate this function click Configure in the network adapter properties and select tab Advanced. In the properties list WOL Magic Paket must be set to Activated. Some computers may show Wake Up Capabilities that are set to Magic Packet. Make sure that Shutdown/Wakeup is also enabled.
Moreover, you need to know the MAC address of the computer to be activated. To find out about it right-click the network adapter and select Status. Click Details and a list will appear. Line Physical address will give the MAC address, e.g. B8-AC-5F-2F-EF-14.
